Description: This canteen from the master potter Seferina Bell is not something that comes along very often, especially one in this condition. It is a true work of art made entirely by hand and expertly painted in traditional Zia patterns by the hands of a true master. Seferina signed her work with a "Bell" hallmark that is clearly visible on the underside of this canteen.Seferina Bell (1920-1986) was from Zia Pueblo. By the time she was 20 she was already a well-known potter and started signing her pottery a few years later. She is recognized as one of the finest Zia potters of the mid-20th century. She made beautiful ollas, bowls and unique canteens. Her highly refined techniques for making pottery turned out extremely graceful water jars and she was an excellent painter. Her talent can be seen in her delicate details. Seferina was the daughter of Joe Pino and Ascenciona Galvan Pino; sister of Katherine Pino, Laura Pino, Tomasita Pino and Filamino Pino; and mother of Ruby Panana, Eleanor Pino Griego and Reyes Pino. Please review all of the photos as they are a part of the description.
