Description: Because you have to have it. That's why. This is an incredibly clever dress that, unlike much French couture, reveres the beautiful Italy silk charmeuse – satin – it was made of. The exterior pockets are very cleverly made and attached – much like and I wonder if these are from shared inspiration with a Yohji Yamamoto black silk satin dress with a pocket – and of course a twist. Anyway, the design has the pockets attached straight across the grain of the silk sheath without cutting the dress. Instead, they’re a self-contained unit, hung like a curtain but doubled and with welt style entry, also well structured. And there’s a sash. The one problem I had is that the armholes were tight and I am providing a measurement below so that you have better luck. No wear. No dirt. No damage. Were I keeping it – still could happen – I would wash it by hand starting with a vinegar-water soak. The acid wash would take out some of the sheen and make the cloth softer. There is no stretch, none. So allow at least 2” of ease above the wearer’s measurements. 42” around underarms, waist and narrows to 41” around at the hips and hem. 34” long from top of shoulder to hem. The armholes are 16” around – this matters. 22” from sleeve edge to the other across the shoulders. Pockets are 12” x 9.5”and start about 18” down from the top of the shoulder.
