Fuji looking into the distance, and is a very thoughtful work combined with the presence of the rising dragon cloud. 矢野橋村"Kyoson Yano [1890-1965]" Japanese painter, born in Ehime prefecture. His born name is Kazutomo, and later name himself "Chidoujin" He studied under Harumi Orikuchi. He participated in the formation of the Japan South Painting Institute. He established a private Osaka art school with Fukuoka Seiran and Western painter Yori Saito. He is active as a major figure in the Nanga world. He also contributed to the promotion of art in Osaka. He is a judge of Japan Fine Arts Exhibition. He won the Japan Art Academy Prize. He received the Osaka Prefectural Art Award and the Osaka Citizens' Culture Award. He is the chairman of the Japan South Painting Institute. He was 74 years old in 1965. What is "KAKEJIKU"? -The Japanese Hanging Scroll- and how to enjoy them? KAKEJIKU is traditionally displayed in TOKONOMA(an alcove in traditional Japanese room). They maily display for their guests and for carrying out the seasonal events. So why don't you have a few and try changing them depends on the guests, seasons and even for your feelings! Modern Japanese houses even don't have a TOKONOMA, so less and less people are displaying them these days. It is a shame that people forget about KAKEJIKU. However it is more important to actually display, respect and enjoy in your own ways rather than following all the traditional ways. You can enjoy freely and display in just like any ways!!
