Description: Young England, volume XVIII. Victorian boys' magazine, bound as a book, with jokes, poems, pictures, cartoons, exciting adventure stories and factual articles. Hardback. Published in 1897 by the Sunday School Union. 476 pages approx. Weight 1600g. Condition:This is an old children's book, in fairly good readable condition for its age, but not quite perfect. The pages are generally clean and tidy, though with some creased corners, and one or two torn edges. The endpapers are discoloured with age. The hard covers are worn and badly scuffed at the edges, and partly split where the spine joins the front and back covers, with some parts of the spine cover missing, as shown. The actual content of the book is of course very Victorian, gung-ho, Empire-building in tone - not the sort of reading that is suitable for modern children!
