Description: Yamaha BB-800 / Electric Bass Guitar / made in Japan Description Condition: Used This is a Yamaha version of the Jazz Bass, combining the BB800 neck, the first model in Yamaha's classic BB Broad Bass series, with the Jazz Bass-type Super Bass SB500S body. It can be called either BB or SB, but since it has BB on the neck, I'm listing it as BB. It has been this style since I got it. Compared to other BB-800s I own, the gap between the neck and the body is a little wider, but it doesn't wobble. The BB series is a precision bass type, but the Yamaha version has a thin neck, so by combining the SB series, which has a thicker neck and is made of maple only, with a BB neck and rosewood fingerboard, it feels more like a Jazz Bass. Both the body and neck are in the Jazz Bass style. There is no serial number on the neck, so it seems to be an early model. The body is the 500S. The SB series shares the same pickups and bridge as the higher-end models. The controls are also passive, with front volume, rear volume, and tone, just like the Jazz Bass. I played it through an amplifier and confirmed that both volume and tone were working properly. There was no noticeable choking at any fret position. It doesn't show much wear for an instrument that's over 40 years old, but the pegs and bridge are dull. The body will be wrapped in bubble wrap and shipped in a recycled cardboard box for packaging instruments. The strings are on for the time being, but they are old. Please replace them as necessary. Also, I have experience playing bass in a band and do some maintenance, but I am not a repair shop, so it is possible that I may have made incorrect judgments about small warps or distortions in the neck.
