Description: In the fall of 1926, construction began on a new building, the Old Yale Art Gallery (originally called the Gallery of Fine Art), which would unite the University’s art collections. Designed by well-known architect Egerton Swartwout, the Old Yale Art Gallery building borrowed elements from such Florentine structures as the Bargello and the Davanzati Palace. A bridge over High Street was constructed to connect the building to Street Hall. artgallery-yale This card chronicles the “Bridge Gallery to Yale School of Fine Arts, New Haven, Conn”. The bridge between the New “Old Yale Art Gallery” to the left and “Street Hall” on the right. It is a card published by “Curt Teich” in his “CT American Art” Series. The card is not postmarked but is a white border era card (1915-30) and is in good condition with minor wear and a clean, clear image. The reverse has some paper stuck to it but is otherwise clean. The colors on the card may vary due to the scanner settings and screen projections.Unless otherwise noted, I use Wikipedia, Playle's and Metropostcard for research and try to be as accurate as possible.
