Description: Yacon (Smallanthus sonchifolius) crowns for sale. Very vigorous, sweet purple-red skinned tubers, and productive plants. Produces very large and sweet tubers in zone 6. Takes about 5 weeks longer than our early producer. Not all Yacon plants are made equal. Make sure you have an idea of what kind of tubers your crowns will yield. They can be small in size but we ship crowns with multiple growth points that will produce several stems. if you plant multiple crown together you are likely to get small tubers because each crown is a plant and multiple plants will compete for nutrients. Thus, small and vigorous units are best. Text with a specific amount of plants you want to grow, and we can send you a picture of what’s available before you buy. Planting Instructions: Make sure package does not sit outside under freezing temperatures because if the crowns freeze they will not grow. This is a subtropical plant. Plant the crowns right away. If you live in a cold climate, you can start indoors. Yacon is a very slow, yet vigorous grower at first, so you can give your plants up to 10 weeks indoors easily before they need to be moved outside.
