As of 8/4/24, this is one of the 2nd highest graded copies in the CGC Census. The Census has just 132 copies that have been graded 9.8s with Universal labels, and no copy has ever earned a CGC 9.9 or 10.0! (and, since this copy has WHITE pages, no CGC 9.6 can have a higher designation for page color, making it TIED for best 9.6 graded copy in the Census!!) Written by CHRIS CLAREMONT; (who I introduced to American comics, when he moved to Long Island from England in 1960 - and I'd be HAPPY to share that story with the Buyer of this item, if he or she is interested!!)Art and Cover by JOHN BYRNE & TERRY AUSTIN!! See below for complete information on the condition of this beautifully-preserved classic issue Long term storage in a Mylar bag with an acid-free boarduntil submission to CGC in April of 2024! This issue was bagged and boarded since purchase and (since 1990, when I learned about the superior results attainable with archival storage products and moved my entire collection into those products) it was preserved in a thick archival Mylar bag with a heavy-weight acid-free board, and stored in my smoke-free, pet-free, climate-controlled home. It was removed from its Mylar bag for the first time to be graded by CGC!! I submitted it to CGC to be graded and encased and it was returned, with an 9.6 Grade, in May of 2024. This copy, both before and after processing by CGC, NEVER has spent a single day in an attic, basement or storage unit, (and it NEVER will as long as I own it!) Since I received it from CGC it has been stored in, and it will be shipped to its new owner in, its CGC-issued protective polybag.Thanks to careful handling, and long-term storage in Mylar, and despite turning 45 YEARS old in 2023, this issue STILL looks very close to NEW, especially in its CGC case with a Universal Label displaying its 9.6 grade, and specifying that it still has WHITE pages!!
