Description: This is a very fine World War II U.S. 1st Marine Division shoulder patch with scarce ‘Cape Gloucester’ tab that is in excellent condition. The patch is constructed of red, white, and blue cotton thread on a blue twill background with a raised blue cotton thread border. The ‘CAPE GLOUCHESTER’ tab is constructed of white cotton thread on a red twill background with a raised red cotton thread border. The patch measures 3½ x 3⅛ inches and the tab measures ½ inch x 3¼ inches in length. The reverse of the patch is with a cheesecloth type backing. Both pieces are in excellent, undamaged condition.8158
