Contact Us!71 5557 1 68 8 Description:1 antique World War II Japanese Samurai Army Officer's sword available. This WW2 Officer's katana was brought by as a war trophy by U.S. Military Police Pfc. Thomas S. Kegley. This bringback sword would make an important addition to any collection. The nakago/tang has 3 lines of kanji--usually there are just 1 or 2 lines of kanji on a Japanese sword's nakago. The sword has the date 1941 on one line of kanji. The second line of kanji has a showa stamp, then notes that this sword was made using Yasugi steel by Minamoto Kanemori. The third line reads 'Kiku Ichimonji'. All military fittings are of the excellent quality. The blade measures 26 3/8" (67.0 cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine. The hamon is sanbonsugi, or 'three cedars'. The original wood crate bringback lid comes with the sword. Pfc. Thomas S. Kegley's serial number is on the wood crate lid, so his service record can be researched. Condition:The mounts are in excellent condition. The blade is in nice polish with scattered light rust specks. There are no nicks in the cutting edge. The hamon and boshi are perfectly healthy. A Japanese Army Officer's sword brought back by a U.S. Serviceman--with his name, serial number--and the lid from the original bringback crate, would make an important addition to any collection.
