Scabbard is NOT included. The rifles were offered in both 6.35mm and 7.35mm calibers. There are five variations of this bayonet with three of them being folding bayonets. This is a NON-FOLDING bayonet. The folding types have the typical latch for mounting to the rifle and a secondary latch to fold, unfold and lock into place. The bayonet was intended to be left on the rifle at all times, so the bayonet would remained closed on the rifle until needed. It did not work out so well so the folding feature was removed and a scabbard manufactured to keep the knife on the belt. Two types of scabbards are found, one with a frog stud and the other with a steel belt loop. This one has NO scabbard. Overall, this bayonet is in Good - Very Good condition, considering its history. The press catch is functional with very stiff spring tension. The pommel and guard are securely fastened to the tang. They have scattered scrapes, oxidation and the remaining coloring has started to turn to a dark patina color. The screws securely fasten the two wood grip panels. They have oxidation around and in the slots. There are light tool marks. The wood grips have compressions, draglines and a 1/4" chip on the right grip panel. They have started to darken with age. The spine, fullers and sides have impact marks, scrapes and oxidation. The blade edge has nicks and dings and appears to have its original factory edge. The tip is intact and comes to a sharp straight point. Some of the finish is still intact and has started to turn a darker patina color. There are no visible markings, but they could be under the oxidation. Scabbard is NOT included. This bayonet will be a great addition to your Italian M1938 rifle, or a bayonet collection in general.
