The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics. Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased. This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War. This particular card was printed in remembrance of: Johann Maier Johann was a Private in an Air Force Flak Regiment and is pictured in a real (glued on) photo in his service uniform and sidecap. He passed from a severe illness in a hospital on February 22, 1940 in Augsburg, Germany at the age of 26. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us.
