The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics. Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased. This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War. This particular card was printed in remembrance of: Franz Ablinger Franz was a Private in the Infantry and and fell at 1:15AM on June 1, 1940 at the age of 23. He is buried in a Cemetery in Freckenfeld in the Rhineland-Pfalz region of Germany. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us.
