The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics. Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased. This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War. This particular card was printed in remembrance of: Fritz Höfler Fritz was a Private in the motorized Infantry and fell in the northern section of the Eastern Front during a tank advance on July 24, 1944 at the age of 20.
