The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics. Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased. This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War. This particular card was printed in remembrance of: Franz Ketter Franz was a Private in the Infantry and served in the opening WWII campaigns including Poland, Belgium, and France. He was severely wounded by a shot to the things on June 19, 1940 and was treated in a field hospital in Sissonne, France. (Sissonne is located in the Aisne department of northern France) where he later passed at the age of 26. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us.
