They help prevent direct contact between the guns metal and the holsters leather. They are especially helpful at protecting the blueing at contact points between the gun and the holster. They can also be used as a protective cover for your gun with out a holster to keep out dust and help prevent scratches, much in the way a museum would store an item. The socks are handmade of 100% breathable cotton flannel and are not treated. This sock fits the 6" Naval Luger, the Swiss Luger, Stoeger Lugers, Ermas, etc. We make socks/covers, to fit the Standard,Swiss, Navy, and 8" artillery Luger, along with ANY Civilian variants that you may have.
