Description: Offered is the first style USN Naval Aviator wing with the letters "US" attached to the front of the wing and approved on 7 September 1917, Change No. 12 to the Uniform Regulations of the same year. This wing was only in existence for one month before a change in the Uniform Regulations removed the letters. The wing is 2 3/4 inches long, pin-backed, and has Sterling incised on the reverse side. The wing has a beautiful frosted tone to it and is in fantastic condition. The wing is shown on page 123 in Appendix A, Exhibit 3 in my book "U.S. Navy Wing Variations of WWII, A Photographic Guide" now available on Amazon.
