Hardware and handguard are NOT included. Originally this rifle was adopted by the U.S. Military in 1903 and used during WWI and WWII. It was modeled with the German Mauser action. It used a 5 round internal magazine. Earlier models have a straight grip and the later models added a pistol grip for more comfort. Also, earlier models had a finger grove on the forend. Overall, this stock is in Very Good - Very Good Plus condition, considering its age and history. Again, no hardware is included. There are scattered compressions, draglines and scrapes throughout. Along most of the left side is either wood checking or a dragline. We do NOT think it is a crack because it is only on the exterior and not the interior. The butt has some light handling marks and scrapes. The tool compartments are intact (Tools NOT included). The heel cut-out is intact, but has a light chip on the right corner. The toe has some light scuffs. It has a low comb and no pistol grip. The top of the wrist has been repaired with a metal corrugated fastener. It appears to be finished correctly but you may want to double check with a qualified gunsmith. The through-bolts are securely fastened with light tool marks and strong slots. The forend has finger grooves with distinct slots. The stained finish is mostly intact and has darkened with age. The bottom wrist is marked with "P" (Proof mark) within a circle and it appears to have another one right above it. The left side above the trigger cut-out is marked "BA-WL" (Benicia Arsenal). This would be a great replacement stock for your favorite 1903 rifle, or great for a rifle rebuild. As with all used items, a light cleaning may be necessary to meet your standards.
