Description: US Marine & War Dog This is a nice reproduction of an original World War Two photo of US Marine Lance Corporal Harold Tesch and his war dog "Tippy" on Guam. Tesch and Tippy were wounded by a mortar round, and both recovered. Tippy later bit the Division Commander during an inspection, causing Tesch to expect a court martial, but the DC shrugged off the incident and Tesch never heard another word about it. Tesch and Tippy served on Guam, Iwo Jima, and Guadalcanal. When Tesch was sent Stateside to recover from an illness, he was separated from Tippy who remained in service. After the war Tesch married. He had written to Tippy's original owners during the war, and Tippy was returned to that family after the war ended. In 1946, Tippys' owner became ill and sent Tippy to Tesch. Sadly, in 1949 Tippy was hit by a car and killed. Tesch visited Tippys grave even after moving half way across the country, until his death in 2010. Size of photo is about 4" x 6".
