Description: Vintage Metal Pocket Flashlight made in 1970s closely following German WW2 Wehrmacht design IMPORTANT NOTE: Please don't fall in obvious traps. Exactly the same flashlight is offered on ebay as: - "WW2 Original WWII GERMAN Soldier Army Flashlight Tin Metal Signal Torch 4 colors" - "WW2 Wehrmacht GERMAN Soldier Army Flashlight Olive Tin Metal 4Color Signal Torch" both claiming these were actually made "during WW2". It is very close by design, but unfortunately these are NOT from the WW2 era. These flashlights were made from early 1960s to late 1980s in Bulgaria. I don't know if the Bulgarian factory was officially licensed to make them, or if just copied the design some ~20 years after WW2, after the design rights expired. The good news is they do follow VERY closely German WW2 Wehrmacht design. The bad news is they definitely were NOT made in Germany, definitely were not made for the German army, and they most certainly were NOT made in the time period of the second World War. Photos include: 1. a poster of a German WW2 era soldier wearing the same flashlight design 2. Josip Broz Tito with Ivan Ribar taken in 1943 - the latter wearing the same type of flashlight (source: Wikipedia article about Josip Broz Tito) This does confirm the design is actually German and from WW2 era. Not so much for the actual flashlights offered for sale here on ebay in new condition. The differences are in the fine details, like for example: general build quality; varying colour of leather straps; and varying quality and colour of the paint job. I know because I have at least two fully sealed factory boxes of this Bulgarian-made flashlight. Construction: Fully metal with two leather braces/straps at the back. Standard Clear lens + 3 sliding colours: Red, Yellow, Green. Uses one standard E10 (screw-mount) light bulb. Uses Battery type 3R12 / 3LR12 / MN1203 (standard 4.5V lantern battery) - adapters from 3x AA or 3x AAA are widely available on ebay. I may try to stock some of these in the near future. Recommended light bulb: 0.2...0.3A at 3.6...4.2V Size: 105x65x38 mm = 4.1x2.6x1.5 inch Weight: ~ 135g ~ 4.8 oz. Made in Bulgaria as a standard equipment for the Bulgarian army. This model was produced from early 1960s to late 1980s. It was also supplied to Railroad personnel as a simple signaling device. Condition - NEW in factory box (box shown on photo #10). The factory boxes are a bit flimsy, don't offer much protection, and will ADD to shipping charges. That's why by default I will send all flashlights WITHOUT a box.
