Description: Named to a scout sniper WIA and a air wing guy The first owner was William A Heckler. During Guadalcanal he served as a scout sniper in Company E (scout company), 2nd Tank Battalion, 2nd Marine Division. After the 'Canal he transferred to I company, 2nd Marines for the invasion of Tarawa. He made it through the historic fight but his luck soon ran out. Unfortunately, during the Battle of Saipan, he lost his right eye to an incoming shell fragment. After Hecklers wounding, this uniform eventually found its way back into the supply chain and re-issued to James F Baldock. Baldock served as a radio technician on a TBM Avenger in support of Marine Carrier Aircraft Service Detachment and the 4th Marine Air Wing.
