Description: Captured Japanese "Knee Mortar" New Guinea This is a nice reproduction of an original WWII photograph showing a US soldier with a captured Japanese mortar in New Guinea in 1943. This mortar was dubbed the "knee mortar" by Allied troops based on the misconception that the curved base plate was meant to be placed on the firers knee. This was not the case and unfortunately several Allied soldiers suffered broken femurs when trying it. Very neat photo! Size of photo is about 5" x 5". Click Here to Receive My E-mail Newsletters!!
