Description: Makers of WWII Kriegsmarine wrist watches from Pforzheim in the Black Forest. Watchmakers: Speck, Vogele, Wiemer, Wagner, Geering, Berg, Mitschele. They all used the PUW 500 of the Pforzheimer Uhren-Werke. The Glashuette cal Urofa 58 was mainly (not all) reserved for the flying personal of the Luftwaffe. The standard Military watch for the German Kriegsmarine was similar in some respects to the watches of the German Wehrmacht; robust, manual – wind watches, water-proof and usually 15 jewel movements. However, there were two main differences between the Army and the Navy watches ; 1) The Kriegsmarine watches were predominately silver-colored metal cases ( nickel-plated brass ) and white dials ( as opposed to the black dials of the Army ) with the letters KM and the makers name. 2) There were far fewer Kriegsmarine watches made as compared to the total amount of watches made for the Army due their respective manpower numbers. The Mitschele watches often had “snap-on” backs with an inner protective metal disk covering the movement, underneath the back cover. This is a WW2 "MITSCHELE" watch made for the German Navy. Serial # 601922. Nickel-plated brass with most "silvering" gone. Has a Post war leather wrist bracelet most likely late 1940's to early 1960's. Good condition. Watch was fully serviced in 2016 and runs very good. Sold as-is. Manual wind. Original glass and white face and hands. Legit and real. Comes from a 50+ year old collection of bring-backs.
