WW2 era 1942-1944 Goldsmith baseball catcher's mask Military? Engineering Dept.

Description: ***NEAT VINTAGE BASEBALL CATCHERS MASK***Not an expert but did some research on this***Super cool old catchers mask, probably for baseball or softball. Has the logo inside the front near the top on the leather, it is hard to read but still can make it out. Made by Goldsmith "A Preferred Product". This style of logo dates it to 1942-1944 era, smack in the middle of World War ll. That being said there is some neat writing on the front near the top which says "Engneering Department". It is mis-spelled but obviously meant to be "Engineering". Not sure if this was a military department or Unit, used by soldiers during the war. Baseball was played by our servicemen all over the world to distract them from the realities of war. Lots of equipment was shipped to them (see last 3 pics for reference) I have no history of this mask so just speculation, but if any of you experts have any info on this please let me know. Fair/good vintage condition, lots of wear from use, appears complete, some rust on the metal bars, a little bent, but still displays great!****Buyer pays USPS GROUND ADVANTAGE shipping.
