Description: Original WW2 Double-Sided ALLIED INFANTRY map of ITALY The original side is entitled "GANDINO" and was printed by the US Army in July 1944. The reverse of the sheet was subsequently re-used by the British in April 1945 for a map of "TRIORA". The original side (Scale 1:50,000) has been overprinted with "CANCELLED" in order to avoid any potential confusion during use in warfare. The later map is at a scale of 1:25,000 - as used by infantry troops on the ground. In great condition. From a large collection recently sold off by Edinburgh University - hence ink stamping to margin. (Following both World Wars, the government distributed excess stocks of Allied maps to various national institutions such as libraries, museums, universities etc.) Please see my other WW2 (and WW1) maps, documents, photos etc...
