Description: USS Mississippi WORLD WAR 2 Deployment Cruise Books 1941-45. These 2 Cruise books were personally owned by the Captain of the USS Mississippi, Captain H. J. Redfield. Captain Redfield was also the commander of the 7th Fleet, May & June 1945. Both cruise books have his name on the front covers, bottom right hand corner. One of the cruise books was given by Capt. Redfield, to his mother. Inside of one of the first few pages it is written by Capt. Redfield "To Mother, With Love From Her Sailor Son. Heman. It is also signed by Capt. H. J. Redfield in the autograph section in the back of the book. Both cruise books are in very good condition. Also included in this listing is is a newspaper clipping about the USS Mississippi, a personal letter written to Captain Redfield by a WW1 Marine Veteran when Capt. Redfield was a Rear Admiral. There is a book and a calendar that was presented to Capt. Redfield by S. Friid who was the press attache to the Royal Norwegian Legation of Iceland dated 1943.
