Description: WW2 British Army Captain Rank "Pips" Eversleigh Star pattern Middlesex Regiment Beautiful set of rank stars or "Pips" for an Army Captain. The most common star pattern used was that of the Order of the Bath and contains three crowns to reflect the three kingdom's, with the motto "Tria Juncta In Uno". The Guards regiments use different patterns of the star of the Order of the Garter, The Order of the Thistle and the Order of St. Patrick. There is also a fifth style, which these are which is the Eversleigh Star which is a noticeably larger star, more ornate in appearance and the four points of its shape are much more rounded in appearance, and bear the motto "Ich Dien" on one arm of the star. This design was adopted by the Middlesex Regiment in 1928 and was unofficially adopted by the South Wales Borders in 1890. This set is made from a heavy gilt brass in a two-piece configuration. They have a lovely toning to the metal. They are quite large at almost 3 CM from point to point. Beautifully made they would be an excellent addition to a collection of insignia or Middlesex Regiment items or to complete a Service Dress uniform. These are seldom encountered, and to have a complete set is a find. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Please check my other auctions for items of interest.
