Description: WW1 & WW2 Medal Group To A Bartlette The Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment. The WW1 Medals are engraved on the rim 18964 PTE A T BARTLETT THE QUEENS R, and the constable medal is engraved ALFRED T BARTLETT. Alfred Thomas Bartlette was born in Sussex, his parish was north chapel, and his religious beliefs was Church of England. Alfred enlisted into the British army on the 19th September 1917, and aged 32 year as of age upon enlistment. Upon enlistment he was living in Guildford. Alfred Thomas Bartlette served in three different regiment’s through WW1 including the queens regiment, royal fusiliers & labour corps. Under the service numbers 18964, 62754, 57749 & Gs/110472. During this period he was entitled to a ww1 war medal and a ww1 victory medal. The regiments Alfred’s served in with the service number can be seen below: 1. 18964 2/R West Surrey Regiment 2. 62754 7/R Fusiliers 3. 577449 967/ Coy Labour Corps 4. GS/110472 44/R Fusiliers In 1917 Alfred was diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis, however despite this he carried on serving his country. Alfred was discharged from the British army on the 18th February 1919. After serving 1 year and 4 months. It’s unknown what he did on the lead up to WW2, however he served as a constable during world war 2, and was consequently awarded a defence medal and a Special Constabulary Long Service Medal. His medals have been nicely mounted so they can be worn. However the constable medal has become loose, and does need re stitching. Accompanying this medal are six scans of his service records.
