No joints, ribs, or flashing. All outer edges rounded for user comfort. CompatibilityThe wrench sizes refer to the measured distance across the nut/socket flats. Compatibility with certain toilet brands can be difficult to determine before disassembly. Be aware that manufactureres typically refer to their flush valve sizes in nominal values. For example, Kohler has what they call “3-inch” flush valves which really have 3 1/8-inch inside diameter, and use a 4.0-inch flush valve nut. Other manufacturers use "3-inch" flush valves which are different dimensional sizes, and use different flush valve nut sizes (thus requiring a different sized wrench). Aftermarket flush valves (such as Korky or Fluidmaster) complicate matters further. Here's a good rule of thumb to determine if you have a 2-inch or 3-inch flush valve... If it appears a tennis ball would fit into the circular opening of the flush valve, then you have a 3-inch flush valve.
