Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Larry Ivie’s MONSTERS AND HEROES NO.5 THE MAGAZINE OF PICTORIAL IMAGINATION Larry Ivie had been a key staff member with Castle of Frankenstein in it's formative years. In 1967 he created Monsters and Heroes which ran for seven issues, ending in 1970. The magazine specialized in fantasy/SF art and comics by some of the top up-and-coming artists of the day -- much of it by Ivie himself -- and articles on monster movies, superheroes, serials and adventure movies. Ivie painted all seven of the series covers, but of special interest to Edgar Rice Burroughs fans were the back covers. Each back cover featured an alternate design for an ERB title: The Son of Tarzan, The Monster Men, Tarzan of the Apes, I Am A Barbarian, At the Earth's Core, A Princess of Mars, and Warlord of Mars. Contents: Monsters: The Creation Of Frankenstein. Heroes: Captain Midnight, Altron-Boy (illustrated comic strip). Creators: Ralph Bluemke's Robby, ComiCons. Condition: small "bug nibble" hole near bottom of spine, top to bottom "Y" crease on front cover (more noticeable when held up to light), front cover corner wear/rounding, brownish hue over predominantly white back cover, internally complete with all (age tanning) pages and nothing clipped out or missing. All magazines are packaged with Collectors in mind. They will be individually bagged, and sandwiched between two pieces of over-sized cardboard. This not only helps to prevent magazine edge damage during the shipping phase, but it also helps to prevent folding and rough handling of the magazine(s). This secured package is then put into a cushioned bubble mailer, helping to ensure you will receive your item in the same condition that it leaves my crypt in!
