Description: Due to the strategic metals ban, the M1942 meat can was developed to conserve precious aluminum for the war effort. Differing from its predecessor, the M1932 meat can, this model utilized a stainless steel body, a thicker and wider handle, and a thicker overall appearance. This model remained in service from World War II through the Vietnam War period and afterwards. This example remains in fine overall condition, showing signs of actually having been issued and used (we collect history, not things that hung out in warehouses, right?) This example was manufactured by E. A. Co. in 1944, and is clearly marked "US" on the handle. The lid fits very tightly, and requires some work to remove it. The mess kit remains in fair-good condition, showing signs of age, use, and wear. There are a few dents on the meat can body, and some dark oxidation to the handle. Structurally sound with no major issues - just an honest kit. Please see the pictures for more detail. Guaranteed 100% authentic in every respect for life.
