First edition, thus. Hard bound blue cloth covered octavos, gilt top edges, with about 600 or more pages in each volume, illustrated. Each volume has a tissue-protected frontispiece engraved illustration with tissue guards, many additional illustrations, full-page and in-text. With the exception of some portraits of Thackeray, the drawings are the work of the author himself. The Biographical Edition was edited by Thackeray's daughter, Anne Thackeray Ritchie. It was originally slated to have 13 volumes and a 14th, with previously unidentified material, was was added in 1900. Later re-issues of this edition were bound as in 26 volumes. (light to moderate shelfwear, with a few volumes having some tears or heavier wear at the spine extremities, light or moderate wear at corners. One volume has repaired short tears at joints of boards with spine. Some volumes have very light soil, rubbing or spot.) All Bindings are tight. This applies to any address in the US and Puerto Rico, as well as to APO addresses. Media Mail, available only for domestic shipping, is trucked to its destination, and shipped by boat to Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico, On the average it takes 3 to 10 days to arrive, depending on the distance and the vagaries of the US Postal Service. Shipments to Alaska, Hawaii, APO and other off-shore addresses take longer to arrive. During the pre-Christmas season, Media Mail is subject to delays.
