Description: This clock was very dirty and not working when I found it. It cleaned up nicely and is now running. I have been unable to identify what brand clock it is, except for the key that came with it. It says E.N. WELCH MF'G Co. Of course, any key could have been used for it and I can find no other markings for a Welch clock. If it truly is an E.N.Welch, then it is an antique because the E.N.Welch company went out of business in 1902. It appears to be quite old, indeed. It has a wooden case that appears to be walnut or oak but I am not sure. In spite of its age, it does not have that many scratches and dings to it. Like many old wall clocks, it has some paint on the top of it. Why didn't people take down their clocks when they painted a room?!?!? The glass and wooden bezel are intact and is slightly loose but closes tightly with the latch. The lower door is intact and closes tightly. The emblem on the door is coming off. The metal pan for the face has a paper dial, and the Arabic numbers are clear with some small stains on the paper. (I wonder if there is another face under the paper which would identify the clock??) The metal and brass around it are slightly tarnished and scratched. The spade hands were bent and rusted so I cleaned, straightened, and painted them. I cleaned the movement, and it keeps good time and chimes out the hour on a Bim-bam gong. I cleaned the pendulum brass, but it is still pretty dinged up but works. It measures 20 inches in length and the dial with cover is slightly over 11 inches. A great old clock for any room or collection.
