Description: Antique Landing of the Fathers at Plymouth Plate Made by Enoch Wood and Sons for the American market. While not immediately obvious, the engravers here have included eagles --a prime symbol of the American Federal period -- in this border dominated by scrolls, and four medallions with ships and inscriptions. The text in the scroll cartouche at the top reads, "America Independent/ July 4, 1776". On the lower border: "Washington/ Born 1732/ Died 1799". The text on the rock in the center pattern has the names also found on the large pitcher in this pattern in the database: "Carver, Bradford, Winslow, Brewster & Standish". In this version two Indians were added, standing on the rock, pointing to the Mayflower in the distance. Dates to approx. 1830. Incised Enoch Wood & Sons. This 10" inch plate is a wonderful example of this pattern. Condition: Cracked with old staple repairs, otherwise minor imperfections to be expected Terms of Sale Please review photos closely.
