WM.RADAM'S MICROBE KILLER CO in bold, deeply sunken letters highlighted in cobalt on front shoulder.....Tan salt glazed stoneware....applied handle....one gallon size....10 3/4"tall....It has a big sliver chip on one side of handle. Surface chipping/roughness around the sided of neck & handle; no other damage. Big amber glass bottles from this company are dated 1883 and have a man clubbing a skeleton trade mark....the claim is made boldly on the bottle CURES ALL DISEASES. When the U.S.government passed the Pure Food & Drugs Act in 1906, they came after Radam for false advertising, etc. Samples of the Microbe Killer were analyzed and found to contain 99% water and 1% acid. Needless to say, the "Microbe Killer" was a notorius fraud and did no medical good. The government raided Radam's warehouse and destroyed all the bottles and jugs they could find ...
