Description: SHORT WAVE UV Interesting specimen of large Anorthoclase Feldspar (Moonstone) crystals in Nepheline Syenite. Usually the Moonstone (Anorthoclase) is found as standalone crystals but some like this show them inter grown into the Syenite. The blue iridescent color flash is muted on this one but still visible at the right angle under good lighting, it could be better if polished or cut at the proper angle. The bottom side of this piece shows a fresh break in the Syenite and has some nice high luster Arfvesdonite crystals. It is from the Stettin Pluton and part of a Pegmatite that is the only source for the this Wisconsin Moonstone and is only found in a 4 square mile area (all on private property. The Anorthoclase fluoresces a cherry red and the Albite in the Syenite a purple under short wave UV light. From Stettin, Marathon County, Wisconsin. 113 grams. 6.5 cm.
