It was published by Eyre & Spottiswoode, of London, and is the 1966 third impression of the 1964 FIRST EDITION. Pbblished 900 years after the invasion, this book is both a study of Anglo-Norman history based upon long and detailed research and the biography of a man whose personal career was spectacular. It is a work in which a wealth of scholarship is linked to a most lucid and agreeable style and it will long remain the standard authority on the subject.
