Description: Opus 12-inch 33 RPM LP # MLG-71 is titled "William Kapell, 1922-1953." Side One is De Falla's "Nights in the Gardens of Spain" with Leopold Stokowski and an unnamed Symphony Orchestra (recorded in 1949). And Side Two is Shostakovich's "Concerto No. 1 for Piano, Trumpet and Orchestra" with Eugene Ormandy and an unnamed Symphony Orchestra (recorded in 1945). It is mono and labeled "Private Record." The record looks to be in about VG+ to EX condition, still beautifully shiny, and very little visible surface wear. It plays through fine on my Audio-Technica turntable, with no skips or jumps, but considerably more background noise than I'd have expected - especially on Side Two - most of it presumably reflecting the imperfect quality of the underlying recording. Because of variations in tracking ability, filtering technology and needle weights, I can offer no guarantees as to how well it will play on your equipment. The cover is also in very good condition, with the seams intact and just typical light surface rubbing and edge wear. It has been modified with a label across the spine that has the typewritten title "Kapell Shostakovich & Falla." It comes with a plain white inner sleeve.
