A crisp, clean, very good copy in the publisher's olive-green cloth with applied photographic portrait of Edison to the front board. Spine dulled, gentle edgewear, but a nice example. This copy SIGNED and INSCRIBED by Meadowcroft on the front free endpaper: "To a new-found and respected friend, Dr. James L. Gordon, with admiration and warm regards. Wm. H. Meadowcroft Nov. 18, 1917." A contemporary gift inscription from one Gordon Bushell (?) to Dr. Gordon appears on the same leaf, and a memorial bookplate for Dr. Gordon, including a photographic portrait of him, is tipped onto the front paste-down. Note that this copy is NOT signed by Edison. After a long career in law, he became Vice President of the Edison Electric Light Company. He became Edison's personal secretary in 1910, and held the position until Edison died in 1931. Very good.
