He was a U.S. Navy Officer and firearms instructor and earned a pilots license along with a martial arts black belt and later became a police officer and firearms trainer retiring from patrol duties after 23 years. He is a chapter president of a motorcycle club. He is more importantly a father and grandfather and tells the story of how a devastating diagnosis of ALS and then cancer has strengthened his resolve to live in the present through Faith, Science and doing what he loves.
