Western Electric Microphone WE 618 1930s Chrome KEX Radio Portland 618A

Description: This listing is for a Western Electric 618A dynamic moving coil broadcast microphone. The Western Electric No. 618A is an important historical mic. It was the world’s first dynamic mic that was developed by Bell Labs in the early 1930s. It quickly became a favorite of broadcasters everywhere. It was a great all-purpose studio mic and was the standard 1930s news conference mic that was used by FDR for his fireside chats. This particular microphone is chrome over brass and was used at KEX radio in Portland, OR. Serial # is 2170. It is in good shape for its age but does have signs of age and use. There are a couple small dings at the rounded are on the back, as well as some scratching and wear in the chrome.Not tested. No cord Questions are welcome and I try to always reply quickly.
