From James Smalldon's obituary:James Eddy Smalldon was born in Detroit, Michigan, June 16, 1925. He died April 3, 2011 at the age 85. During his rich life he accomplished much, including entering the US Navy service during WWII. He soon became a radioman on the destroyer, USS Charles Lawrence. James went on to receive his Masters degree in History form the University of Southern California. He became a Department Chairman and Vice Principal at Arcadia High School in southern California. He soon decided to pursue his love of history as a rare book dealer and expert in the field California Americana. He was well regarded as an expert in the history of Wells Fargo ephemera, Civil War history, and northern California.
