Description: This is a very rare LP of the music of Wayne Barlow, a 20th Century modern composer in the USA who was rarely recorded, but who was really quite an interesting creative talent, and is only now beginning to be appreciated more fully. This, I believe, was the second record of his music to be released. He was featured with other composers on a late 50s Mercury Living Presence LP with Howard Hanson, and then there was this one, some time in the late 1960s. Very hard to find information about this album, as it is so rare no other copies have turned up anywhere. The three compositions featured here are: -Trio for Oboe, Viola, and Piano (1964) - written specifically for the oboist Robert Sprenkle, and the violist Francis Tursi -"Dynamisms" for two pianos - commissioned by the duo-piano team of Yarbrough and Cowan, who perform it here -Elegy for Viola and Piano - composed especially for Tursi, again, and specifically for this record. The disc is in near perfect mint condition and plays flawlessly. The cover is excellent as well, with some minor corner wear and overall shelfwear. But barely. A really lovely and impossibly rare copy.
