Description: Wassily Kandinsky Rug. Shipped with USPS First Class. This is an all-wool modernist Bauhaus style area rug inspired by artist Wassily Kandinsky. Crafted in Denmark circa 1988 as part of the 20th Century Collection by Ege Axminster Art Line. An attractive decorative art work as either an area rug or a wall hanging. Size is 31”x47”. Jute/Polypropylene backing. Primary colors of red, blue and yellow with restrained use of black and muted blue-green comprise the palate for crisply executed abstract geometric shapes juxtaposed in sharp contrast against an off-white background. Overall condition of rug is very good and was recently professionally cleaned. Tag is not in great condition (see pics), otherwise, no notable damage. Abstract artist Kandinsky (1866 - 1944) Lawyer and economist in Moscow before he gave up his career as well as an offer of professorship to pursue art studies in Germany at the age of 30. After completing art school in Munich, Kandinsky become an art theorist and a professor at the legendary Bauhaus School. Kandinsky is noted for his intellectual theories and abstract concepts on art, and he is often attributed as the first geometric abstract artist. The works of Kandinsky span four decades from 1910 to the 1940s and include tapestries, rugs and paintings in an immense range of abstract designs.
