Description: Vintage 1930’s Wool striped blanket. An earlier blanket made by Baron Woolen Mills in Utah. It is embroidered with the rising sun logo and has no additional tag. Very soft thick pile in a rosy beige color. Each end has 4 brown stripes. The ends are finished with rust orange satin trim, that beautifully hand stitched in place. It measures 68”x 79”. Condition is overall good for it’s age. There is subtle color fading in the center of the blanket but no stains. The satin trim has age appropriate wear. It’s amazing that it is still intact. It appears to have been hand stitched. There are some thinning spots on the blanket as well. One side is in better shape than the other. See photos. The blanket has been freshly laundered. Not only does Baron Wool Mill have an interesting American history, but the story attached to this particular blanket is quite touching. I purchased this blanket from an 80 year old man who recounted his boyhood memory of helping out his elderly neighbor, Jacob Fitch. Jacob was blind but continued to hand plow and work his farm. The boy’s family helped him as much as possible, and they became good friends. Jacob could often be seen sitting on his porch wrapped in this blanket.
