Description: Here we have a scarce dinner plate in the Liverpool Birds pattern from Wedgwood, a black transferware version of the Chelsea Bird theme. In production for well over 100 years, from 1840 to 1967, there are many variations of the transfer pattern on the various pieces. This variation is often referred to as "two flying birds." We have lots of fabulous antique, vintage and contemporary transferware in our store, to which we add new inventory daily, and we're always happy to combine shipping at actual cost. Please enlarge and zoom in them to view the condition for yourself. Very clean, bright, and glossy, in remarkable condition for its age. No cracks, chips, utensil marks, stains, or crazing. Two or three very small and light, completely colorless, scratches to the glaze can be seen under very close inspection when the plate is held up at just the right angle to a direct source of light. There's a tiny glaze pop on the front, lower left that we've circled, simply because it's really the only possible issue anyone could have with this beauty :) We consider funky odors (cigarette smoke, mildew, etc) to be an important part of a condition report.
