ITEM IS AS PICTURED. One rarely finds any authentic jellybellies any more. They're all in museums or private collections. This piece comes from my personal collection that has been photographed for several European magazines and books back in the 1990's. If you are into this sort of jewelry, please visit my Ebay store as I will be adding more great pieces in 2024 to the costume & jewelry section. This is truly one of the super FABULOUS jellies that came out of the 1940's. Huge at 9 cm/3.5". A so-called "book piece" which means it's in all the books on Trifari and jellybelly brooches.Condition is almost perfect for a 1943 piece of jewelry. The lucite belly has no scuffing or scratches. No tarnish anywhere. The only thing I can see - with a loupe - is on the left leg where a slight bit of gilding has rubbed off on one area and on one of the top head feathers. But because the silver is so shiny, it really isn't noticeable. I do not consider this a defect at all. This brooch looks fantastic overall.Rollover clasp on pinback is firm and intact.Designed by the famous Alfred Philippe in 1943. HISTORY:"The Parisian born Alfred Philippe was trained at the prestigious design school ‘L’Ecole Boulle.’ After emigrating to the US he worked as a fine jewelry designer for William Scheer Inc., one of the foremost manufacturing jewelers of the Art Deco era. Scheer created items for Cartier & Van Cleef & Arpels and Philippe was responsible for several full collections for these prestigious houses. Following the Crash in 1929, Philippe moved to Trifari as a designer, eventually becoming the head designer where he worked until his retirement in 1968. His fine jewelry experience strongly influenced his designs and jewelry manufacturing techniques."Measurements:9cm x 5.5 cm - 3.5” x 2.5”Made in USAA real museum piece.
