Vintage Tall basket with Carrying Handles This is a vintage, handwoven rattan basket with bamboo feet from Southeast Asia, possibly the Philippines. Women carry these on their backs in the rice fields to collect the harvest, thus the carrying straps attached. Basket making is an ancient and humble craft, but in the hands of a skilled weaver a simple reed basket can become a truly beautiful work of art. This well-crafted basket is made from bamboo, rattan and vines carefully sourced out from the immediate surroundings. Measures 17” H x 12” L x 8” W approx. Weight: 1 pound 12 ounces. Two carved red cinnabar rounds adorn the top of the lid and the bottom of the basket.
