Description: Vintage 1960’s-1970’s (starting from to at least the late 1970’s to perhaps even the 1980’s) Pearsons of Chesterfield stoneware cookie jar crock. Made in England. Commercial history of the company shows expansion of their stoneware production into the kitchen retail markets in the 1960’s ultimately ceasing operations in 1994. Scant information is available about production lines but the high point of production appears to take place during the 1970’s through the 1980’s. Afterward the company experienced economic stresses so it is difficult to determine which production lines survived until production ended in 1994. Consequently, the estimated vintage of this crock is 1970-1980’s. Excellent overall condition given it’s age. No chips, cracks or crazing to be seen. Impressive solid color beige. Slight surface staining on the underside of the lid in the unglazed rim portion. Great farmhouse/rustic decor item and fully durable for everyday use. Measurements and weight provided in the above description.
