Frame size is approximately 25" x 29"Painting is approximately 20" x 24" Artist Biography: Juan de la Cruz Machicado Sihuayro, often simply referred to as Machicado, was a distinguished Peruvian painter born in 1935 in the town of Yunguyo, located in the Puno department of Peru. His early education included secondary studies at the Colegio Nacional de San Carlos, followed by further education in Cusco and Lima. Machicado pursued his passion for art at the Diego Quispe Tito Regional School of Fine Arts in Cusco and later completed specialized studies at the School of Fine Arts of Peru in Lima. His talent and dedication to painting were recognized early on, and in 1975, he was awarded the National Painting Prize at the International Spring Festival in Trujillo. Throughout his career, Machicado's work garnered international acclaim, leading to a series of successful exhibitions in the United States, Japan, Argentina, Bolivia, and Spain. His art, characterized by its vivid portrayal of Andean landscapes and indigenous culture, continues to be celebrated for its cultural and artistic significance. Juan de la Cruz Machicado passed away on August 1, 2018, in Cusco, leaving behind a legacy as one of Peru's most beloved and influential artists.
